A quick and easy way to instantly remove unwanted hair
About body waxing
At CosMedics, we use either hard wax or soft wax, depending on the area being treated. Typically, hard wax is used to treat more sensitive areas, such as face, underarms, or bikini area; whereas soft wax is used to treat larger areas of the body, like legs or arms.
Waxing is a fairly quick and easy procedure. The treatment may take as little as a few minutes for eyebrows, or 30-45 minutes for larger parts of the body.
Wax Treatment areas include:
- Upper/lower legs
- Arms
- Underarms
- Bikini
- Brazilian
- Chin
- Lip
- Eyebrow
- Chest/Back (Men)
Waxing hair removal process
Just like the hair on your head, the hair on your body grows in cycles and at different rates. To ensure the technician is able to efficiently capture the unwanted hair, it is important to have it grown in to the length of at least a grain of rice.
Arrive to your appointment with clean skin, free of any makeup or moisturizer.
Our professional esthetician will apply the wax to clean, dry skin, and quickly lift the wax away, taking with it unwanted hair growth.
Waxing before and after care
Before your appointment:
Arrive to your appointment with clean skin, free of any make up or lotions. Discontinue using any retinol or medicated skin products on the treatment area at least one week prior to your appointment, as waxing may irritate already dry/sensitive skin.
For your comfort, wear loose fitting clothing to your appointment.
After your treatment:
Avoid using retinol or medicated creams for 1-3 days following wax treatment. Avoid sun exposure immediately after waxing, and wear broad-based sunscreen.
Waxing risks and common side effects
Waxing is a safe and effective treatment; however, it should not be done on any of the following:
- Patients currently taking Accutane,
- Patients with extremely thin skin, or
- Patients recovering from chemotherapy.
It should also be noted that recently waxed areas are prone to hyperpigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if exposed to the sun. Avoid excessive sun exposure following a wax treatment and always wear broad based sunscreen.
